The Capricornian presents Handel's Messiah, a musical collaboration between the Yeppoon Choral Society and Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra. The production will feature four accomplished Central Queensland soloists who will bring Handel’s masterpiece to life: Naomi Yu (Soprano), Kathleen Campbell (Mezzo-Soprano), Jacob Goves (Tenor) and Hainian Yu (Bass).

This landmark event marks the 60th anniversary of the Yeppoon Choral Society, an occasion celebrated with the formation of a powerful 80-voice choir led by Choral Conductor Lorraine Manifold, uniting singers from Yeppoon Choral Society, Rockhampton Musical Union Choir, Unisong, and Keppel Bay Community Choir.

Adding to the grandeur of the performance, the Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra, led by Chief Conductor Owen Clarke, will showcase Sir Eugene Goossens’ 1959 full symphonic orchestration of Handel’s original 1741 baroque composition—an interpretation renowned for it's rich tonal depth and dynamic expressiveness. The well-known Bass Aria, The Trumpet Shall Sound will feature RSO’s Principal Trumpet, Yolanda Aay.

The Capricornian and Lupton Stewart Orthodontics are proud sponsors of Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra.

The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Rockhampton Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
