The Capricornian presents Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra with Celtic Vibes, celebrating the music of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. RSO Maestro Owen Clarke will transport you from the valleys of Wales to the Scottish Highlands and across the Irish Sea with a blend of traditional, classical and contemporary pieces.
Rising star of stage Alicia Kyriazis will take you to the Isle of Skye while RSO audience favourite, Piper Craig Thomson will capture the essence of the North with the traditional anthem “Flower of Scotland”.
Craig will also be joined by members of Rockhampton Highlanders for “The Black Bear and Scotland the Brave”.
If the passion and pathos of the music does not already have you dancing in your seats, “Celtic Rock” and “The Gael” with Gladstone Irish Dancers and The Rockhampton Grammar School Dance and Musical Theatre Academy surely will.
The event will also feature solo performances by RSO instrumentalists, Yolanda Aay (trumpet) and Carly Holbeck (xylophone) with the well known Irish tunes, “Believe Me, If All Those Endearing Young Charms” and “Irish Washerwoman”.
The symphonic interpretations of Celtic themes by Felix Mendelsohn and Malcolm Arnold will ensure an evening of musical delight.
