AUDIENCE PARTICIATION ETIQUETTE
(A cheeky guide for the fabulously well‑behaved)

Welcome to The Rocky Horror Show — where staying quiet is optional, but staying clever is essential.
Audience participation is part of the joy, and we love your energy… provided it doesn't accidentally turn into a lighting hazard, a safety briefing, or an unexpected cardio workout for our ushers.

1. Callbacks? YES. But keep it clever.
Rocky fans are a creative bunch, and we love hearing witty one‑liners echo through the theatre.
Keep it PG‑friendly(ish), keep it brief, and if your line is longer than a verse of “Time Warp,” maybe save it for the car ride home.

2. Props stay in your imagination (or at home).
Yes, classic screenings encourage rice, water pistols, toast, confetti and all sorts of chaos. No, our theatre manager does not.
We promise the show is just as fun without confetti embedded in the lighting rig for six months.

3. Clap, cheer, laugh, and Time Warp your heart out.
We want your energy. Just be sure your dancing stays within the boundaries of your seat — or at least within the boundaries of physics.

4. Respect the performers.
They're singing, dancing, transforming and time‑warping their way across the stage for your entertainment.
If you're calling out, make it supportive — not something that knocks their focus out of orbit.

5. Phones off. (No, really.)
If Dr Frank‑N‑Furter wanted to be filmed, he'd have hired a camera crew.
Please keep phones silenced and screens tucked away — it keeps the magic alive.
There will be plenty of photo opportunities in the foyer. Please tag your pics #rockydoesrocky
6. Enjoy yourself outrageously.
This show celebrates individuality, courage, and a joyful sense of play.
Lean into the fun, sing when the spirit moves you, and laugh loudly — we're thrilled to have you with us.
7. Team with the theme
Feel free to dress up and come along in your Rocky Horror-inspired costume (just don’t show more skin than Rocky does in those little gold pants.
And finally…
If you're not sure whether something is allowed, ask yourself: “Will this make a stage manager cry?” If the answer is yes… maybe don’t.
